Hands-on educational opportunities
Experiential field-based educational programs
Experiential field-based educational programs taught through the Kino Bay Center provide platforms for university and high school students to develop and apply theoretical learning while working along-side researchers, resource users and community members. During field courses and independent studies, students also contribute to the Center’s programs. The Center supports and develops field classes for students from Prescott College, other universities and for high schools. In addition the Center supports a number of independent studies, senior projects, internships and thesis students each year in a wide variety of socio-environmental projects.

The Center works with local and indigenous community groups, government agencies, academic institutions, NGOs, researchers and other stakeholders to identify and address conservation priorities based on regional socio-environmental realities.
The first Prescott College classes arrived in the Eastern Midriff Island Region of the Gulf of California in 1969, bringing with them a commitment to experiential education, environmental sustainability and social justice.
