Media and Communication
Communicating science and inspiring passion and action
What We Do
Visual media, communication, and information exchange are vital components of effective conservation, science and education. The Media and Communications Program (MCP) contributes to the protection of priority species and habitats of the Gulf of California by connecting people with information – and with each other. The MCP expands and motivates deep interest and involvement in science, education and community participation through compelling and attractive communication. The MCP works with students, staff, researchers and community members to create social media posts, video, murals, posters, technical reports, newsletters, and more. The MCP manages information generated and collected by the Center to ensure that information is stored and accessible effectively and equitably. The Center’s library, photo-database and bibliographies support the work done by the Center and its partners. In addition, we build capacity for science communication by mentoring and supporting students, staff and students in effective information management and media and communication skills.
